ITB's Culmination in the Tertiary Students Scientific Paper Competition

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – ITB pass its single representatives on tertiary student scientific paper competition zone B level. The events had been followed by both state and private tertiary institutions from West Java, Central Java, DIY, and Kalimantan on May 29th, 2008 at ITT Telkom Bandung. KKTM Natural Science (KKTM IPA) ITB personnel’s, Agus Heri Hoerudin (TK’05) and Muhammad Thamrin Humaedi (TM’06) were succeeds tackling down UNNES into the second and host player ITT Telkom into the third. Thus was first ever ITB culmination on the event. Nevertheless Tim KKTM Education had only detained on 4th level and KKTM Social Science on the 13th level. Formerly ITB had fooled on regional selection. The idea of scientific paper titled ‘Geothermal Steam Direct Utilization from Non Productive Well as Solution for Akarwangi Industry in Garut District” as come from Asgar Project with the same themed. Technically geothermal steam could tie Akarwangi. Geothermal well, as mention in the paper, is un-productive one. The well is not economically feasible to utilize PLTP (geothermal power generator). Geothermal steam had soar from Guntur mountain belt, around Kamojang. Economically, it probed that using geothermal could generate 5 million rupiah in once distillation, far better until using fuel only made 900 thousands On writing process, the team was supervised by Dr. Tatang Hemas Soerawidjaja, chemical engineering lecturer. Agus and Thamrin, room mate in Etos Bandung Dormitory, found difficult in the presentation due to ITB name gave them extra burden. Moreover their supervisor was only present for moment. “We want to carry ITB attribute confidently, so that there was an extra burden. Obviously when the turn came, audiences give their full attention only because we were ITB representatives”, Agus said. Winning factor was related to issue, actuality, and excellent presentation performances. The moment they stipulate on going preparation to play on PIMNAS (National Level Tertiary Students Scientific Week) at Sultan Agung University on July. “We would like to say thanks to Ms Neni Saptadji, Petroleum lecturer, due to her explanation upon geothermal concept. Mr Wawan Djatnika for his correction, and Mr Nanang T Puspito for his technical input of our presentation” Thamrin said.
