Times Higher Education’s 2017 Asia University Rankings: ITB Ranked the Best in Indonesia
ITB ranked the best among other higher education institutions in Indonesia in the list of Asia University Ranking 2017 by Times Higher Education (THE). The ranking was announced on 15 March 2017 in Ulsan, South Korea and published on THE’s website.
Only two higher education institutions in Indonesia emerge to the list, namely Bandung Institute of Technology (201-250) and University of Indonesia (251-300). As a newcomer to the list, it is a decent result amid rapid development and tight competition between higher education institutions in Asia. The ranking was based on the aspects of teaching, research, international outlook, citations and publications, and cooperation with industry. Several months before, ITB and UI also managed to emerge to the list of world university rankings of THE 2016-2017, sitting on the 801th-980th position.
The Rector of ITB said that university rankings such as THE’s would be beneficial for higher education institutions in Indonesia for sustainable improvement toward world class university, international cooperation growth, and international acknowledgement to Indonesia.
