BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – As one of sport student units. Persatuan Sepakbola (PS) or Football Unit of ITB maintain its position as a mean for students to channel their talents and interests in football. That is why there are many routine activities such as football competition and training held by PS ITB. All was done to build football climate in ITB.

“The other as well as basic goal of this student unit is that it wants to bring fame to ITB by making accomplishment in football and futsal,” Said one of the members of PS-ITB, Talo.

PS-ITB has many achievement both in national or Asia level. In 2015, PS-ITB won the third place in International Sport Fiesta 2015 in men futsal category in University Technology Mara Malaysia (UTMM). Then, last October, PS-ITB also won the third place in Unpar Festival Cup.

Those achievements are the result of passionate training of the members and the capability of their coach, Sabrun Hanafi, who once brought fame to Indonesia in one of football leagues in Europe.

Taro explained that some activities in PS-ITB used to vacuum, but in this period, they want to have togetherness with each other by promoting training. This is a part of effort of the management to revive PS-ITB using routine training.

The unit that has been established since 1st June 1975 does not revolve only around interest and talent, because an organization has to introduce the culture of regeneration and organizational knowledge to its members. “Besides, they (new members) will get trainings such as basics of football and futsal, soft skills such as leadership, human resource training, and many more,” he said.

Routine training is usually done in Saraga ITB. During ITB’s Open House Unit (OHU) 2018 on 25 August, PS-ITB introduced the unit to freshmen and selected new members.

“The enthusiasm to join PS-ITB is quite high. In 2016, ITB freshmen that join PS-ITB were around 400 students. In 2017 around 200. If seen from the enthusiasm, 10% of 4000 ITB freshmen joining PS-ITB counts as a lot,” explained by another team member, Vincent.
