Deep Condolences over the Passing of Prof. Mardjono Siswosuwarno

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) express deep condolences over the passing of Prof. Mardjono Siswosuwarno, a professor in Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of ITB (FTMD). He passed away on Friday, 20 September 2019 at 5.48 a.m.

All academic members of ITB express deep condolences over the passing of Prof. Mardjono. He was a true educator who gave countless services to the nation and the people, as stated by Rector of ITB, Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi in a funeral remark at Aula Barat of ITB, Sunday (22/9/2019).

“We are here today in this funeral to pay our last respect as a token of honor for his good deeds, services, and dedication to ITB, the nation, and the people during his live,” said Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi.

Prof. Kadarsah stated that the late Prof. Mardjono had gone through a long journey in his career. He was an energetic, humorous, assertive, and respectful towards everyone. He had displayed countless achievements and services to the nation and the people.

“In this important time, I, on behalf of all members of ITB, express our deep condolences to the family of Prof. Mardjono Siswosuwarno. May God Almighty accepts his good deeds and forgives all his misdeeds. May he get a beautiful place up there.” He said. He also added that may the family be given fortitude and patience.

One of lecturers in Faculty of Industrial Technology, Yogi Wibisono Budhi said that Prof. Mardjono was an expert in aero plane materials who is a cheerful person. Besides teaching in FTMD of ITB, Prof. Mardjono also taught in Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA). “Despite suffering from stroke attack once when in ITERA, we were optimistic he would be healthy and be together again with us here in FTMD and ITB. But the God has another plan. He loves Prof. Mardjono more,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Mardjono Siswosuwarno was born in Solo, 17 May 1948. He received his doctoral degree from Katholiek Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. He was inaugurated as a professor in Material Sciences and Engineering Research Group in 2001.

During his career in ITB, He was appointed as a member of senate of FTI/FTMD in 2002-2007, member of Academic Senate of ITB in 2007-2012, and a member of ITB’s Board of Trustees in 2007-2012. He received a number of awards, such as 20 years of service SLKS, 25 years of services in ITB award, 30 years of service SLKS, and 35 years of services in ITB award.
