BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque, Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., filled the tausiyah (Islamic sermon) at the ITB Halalbihalal event, Thursday (27/5/2021). The delivered theme was "The Spirit of Eid Al-Fitr to Realizes Islam Rahmatan Lil' alamin, Unites the Nations, and Brings the Peace in the World".

"Gathering is actually from two simple roots but always has a positive connotation. In Arabic dictionaries, silah means to connect. Also, synergy breeds energy, togetherness breeds blessings. Meanwhile, ar-rahim or rahimah means love. If we condense the Al-Qur'an and other holy books the meaning is love, so it is not right for us to introduce Islam but incite hatred, incite conflict, and so on," explained Prof. Dr. KH. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., when starting the tausiyah.

He emphasized that humans can fluctuate in dignity before Allah SWT; they can be more despicable than animals and more glorious than angels. Humans deserve to be khalifatullah/leaders on earth because only humans can get Asmaul Husna/names of Allah in its entirety and elaborate on it, as stated in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 31.

Through his tausiyah, Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. invites the big family of ITB to respect each other, regardless of their background. "God glorified Adam's children and grandchildren. Whatever the religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, it is obligatory to be respected and honored by law. Even in Islam, in the Al-Qur'an and hadith, not only glorify the living but the dead too," he said.
The former Deputy Minister of Religion for the 2011-2014 period also believes that diversity will make national unity and world peace if friendship is fostered. The tausiyah was moderated by the Vice-Rector for Finance, Planning and Development Ir. Muhamad Abduh, M.T., Ph.D.
