ITB Will Hold a Series of Events in Commemorating the 101 Years of Higher Technical Education in Indonesia (PTTI)

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - In commemoration of 101 years of Higher Technical Education in Indonesia (PTTI) on July 3, 2021, Institut Teknologi Bandung will hold virtual events. The event will be starting from July 1-4, 2021.

The series of events include a virtual seminar on July 1, 2021. Also, there is a virtual exhibition on July 1-4, 2021, followed by a Music and Culture Show on July 3, 2021. The following event's culmination is the PTTI 101 Year Open Session in ITB West Hall on July 3, 2021, and closed by ITB 101 Virtual Run on July 4, 2021.

Coordinator of the 101 Year ITB and PTTI (P101), Dr. Naomi Haswanto, said that ITB would give Doctor Honoris Causa (Doctor HC) to several persons, namely Raden Muhamad Samsudin Dajat Hardjakusumah (also known as Sam Bimbo), Nyoman Nuarta, and Prof. Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro.

The title of Doctor Honoris Causa is given to someone based on their contributions that are proven to be beneficial to society in culture, humanity, science, and technology.

Sam Bimbo will receive the Doctor HC in Arts and Religiosity, and Nyoman Nuarta will receive the Doctor HC in Fine Arts (Sculpture). Lastly, Prof. Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro will receive the Doctor HC in Regional and Urban Development.

Meanwhile, the Director of P101, Prof. B. Kombaitan, said the virtual seminar titled "ITB for Indonesia's Digital Transformation." The virtual seminar will discuss Conception and Directions, which will be opened by a remark from Nadiem Makarim (the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology). Several keynote speakers will attend, namely Dr. Suharso Monoarfa (the Minister of National Development Planning), Johnny G. Plate (the Minister of Communication and Information), and Laksana Tri Handoko (the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency).

The second theme of the virtual seminar is "Implementation of Indonesia's Digital Transformation". Several keynote speakers will attend, namely Dr. Muhammad Hudori (the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs), Dr. Sigit P. Santosa (the Head of LPIK ITB), Director of Resource Management of the Directorate General of SDPPI Kemenkominfo, Hendri Mulya Syam (the President Director of Telkomsel), and Dr. Ary Setiadi (the Chief Moderator ITB Information and Communication Technology Research Center).

As for the virtual exhibition, P101 will present 220 research, innovation, and community service works from ITB lecturers, grouped into 12 themes. The virtual exhibition will be held for four days, 1-4 July 2021.
Next, the Arts and Culture Show will be held on the night of July 3, 2021., The show is titled The Craddle of Civilization. In this event, several issues will be discussed, interspersed by the appearances of musicians who are alumni of ITB.

Lastly, the ITB 101 Virtual Run will close the series of events. A virtual run is quite popular among the ITB runner community. Several modes and distance will be available, especially the 101 KM group run. People can follow further information regarding P101 events through ITB's official website and social media.
