BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—The PPID (Information and Documentation Management Department) of ITB conducted a series of comparative studies from 17-25 May 2022 as part of the task given to ITB’s institutional secretary as well as PPID’s chief officer, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo. Aiming to improve the performance of ITB PPID, the studies are performed in various universities, including UI (University of Indonesia), IPB (Institut Pertanian Bogor), Unpad (Padjadjaran University), UGM (Gadjah Mada University), UNY (University of Yogyakarta), Unair (Airlangga University), UB (Brawijaya University), and ITS (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November).

This research involves both administrators and staff of several campus units included in ITB PPID management. Few to be named are the Bureau of Communication and Public Relations, Bureau of Administrative Affairs and Information, and other working units.

Prof. Widjaja advised that this study must be carried out as optimal as possible to supplement the understanding of involving staff. Aside from obtaining more insight into the management of public information, it maintains ITB's ranking as an informative public agency awarded in 2019 and 2021.

Some of the fields studied in the aforementioned universities are related to data and information regulation, information technology, legality, as well as public relations. Hence, the assigned staff are ensured to be competent in the four study fields.

The coordinator of ITB PPID, Dr. Naomi Haswanto, M.Sn., stated that the chosen universities were determined by ITB's assessment; they are revealed to be one step ahead in public information management. "UI, IPB, Unpad, UGM, UNY, Unair, UB, and ITS are constantly striving to enhance their supervision of public information,” she added. “Hopefully, ITB can learn a thing or two from the results to upgrade its PPID performance.”
