BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held a Public Session for New Students of Postgraduate and Professional Programs for Semester II of the Academic Year 2024/2025 at Sasana Budaya Ganesa (Sabuga) on February 7, 2025.

In his opening remarks, ITB's Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., stated that the era of accelerated scientific and technological development is now taking place, which has led humanity towards technological singularity. This rapid transformation, driven by artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and other sectors, presents both opportunities and complex challenges for the environment, society, and the global order.

In line with its goal of transforming into a 4th-generation university, ITB focuses not only on scientific development but also on multidisciplinary collaboration to create tangible impacts.

"Hopefully in the future, one of you standing here will carve your name into ITB's history," the Rector said.

Prof. Tatacipta reminded the new students that their academic journey at ITB is not only about earning degrees but also about becoming drivers of sustainable national development. The latter part can be achieved through learning that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, innovation, and response to challenges—combined with ITB's robust academic atmosphere and culture that ultimately prompt real solutions.

The Rector revealed that in students' journeys, ITB acts as a provider of knowledge and a place to hone character and social awareness. ITB's core values—excellence, pioneering spirit, perseverance, and devotion—should serve as the foundation in pursuing academic achievement and contributions to society and the state.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration in this era of rapid change. Through multidisciplinary research and collaboration, the Rector hoped that relevant solutions and positive impacts for society would emerge while still upholding humility and respect for others.

"Be part of a community that learns not only for itself but also for the benefit of many," concluded Prof. Tatacipta.
