Deny Willy Junaidy, S.Sn., M.T., Ph.D, Awarded Lecturer

The spirit of service is the key to community service activities. That's roughly what Deny Willy Junaidy, S.Sn., M.T., Ph.D, wants to share with the ITB academic community. He is also now given the task of being the Secretary for Community Service at LPPM ITB.

In 2019, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education held the Diktendik Achievement Award event. One of the lecturers who won this event was Deny Willy. This lecturer who teaches at the Faculty of Art and Design, ITB, won the third place in the category of outstanding social humanities lecturer.

In an interview with ITB's Public Relations Officer, Tuesday (8/6/2021), Willy told his journey to winning awards at this event. He said that there were dozens of other nominees who were assessed and selected by the jury from the Ministry of Research and Technology. He and the other nominees presented the projects that had been carried out.
With community service projects targeting micro-industries, especially artisans, as the object, Mr. Willy—as he is known—presented it in front of the judges. He feels that his project which is often in contact with the craft community makes the judges more interested.

He explained that his project supports and fosters micro-industry players, especially in the lifestyle category. With his project that brought Willy to third place, Willy was very happy and couldn't believe he could pass the other nominees who he thought his project was very sophisticated.

Of the projects that have been carried out, many craftsmen have succeeded. This is what makes him even more motivated to continue his project. He said that there is a certain joy in being able to help these craftsmen. He feels that there are lots of non-material gifts that make him even more motivated to always be successful.

For this reason, Willy wants to spread the spirit of community service to ITB students by inviting them to work together as happened to him when lecturers invited him to work together in the 2000s when he was still an academic assistant at ITB.
