Campus Ambassador as a Student Potential Development Space

ITB nurtures its students to be intellectually competitive, while also cultivating their character building aspect. This endeavor is supported through extracurricular activities such as organizations (Study Program Students’ Association, Student Activity Units, Regional Circles), Committees, and other forms of activities that will develop a student’s self-potential.

To facilitate every student's activity, creativity, and innovation in their non-curricular activities, making available various spaces to realize their talents, skills, achievements, and agility in a positive and constructive manner is critical.

In line with ITB’s reputation of national and international scale, the campus took off on global rankings in 2022/2023 on QS Ranking as much as 68 ranks, obtaining rank 235th internationally and 2nd place in Indonesia on the same ranking platform. One key indicator of this accomplishment, which also received the highest score among all other categories, is the employability of ITB alumni in many different walks of life, whether chasing professional career or as an entrepreneur.

“The ITB Campus Ambassador Election 2021 spearheaded ITB’s history as a first of its kind and conceptually distinguished compared to similar enterprises in other institutions. We organized this program alongside ITB industry partners with speciality programs, in conjunction with other collaborative partnership programs. The concept also demonstrated ITB’s values of inclusivity and appreciation in accommodating a myriad of students’ interests and talents, as well as following the development of today’s industry demand,” expressed the Chief Executive of ITB Campus Ambassador Election, Sonny Rustiadi S.E., MBA., Ph.D., CBAP.

Accordingly, student achievements and talents are valuable assets for every institution. Through such things, interest and attention will manifest on the campus, especially from the public. Therefore, the creation of a campus ambassador program to find representatives and role models for every student, as well as highlighting the driving forces behind the student activities in ITB, is important.

ITB Campus Ambassadors are students chosen from a rigorous selection process by ITB’s Directorate of Students Affairs and Ad-Hoc Team (TDD) with the purpose of appointing the nation’s best young men and women, who will become the visages of the general ITB students as well as portray student character, represented through the word AIR: Adaptive – Integrity – Respectful.

Sonny expressed the role and function of ICA as a promotional media, role model, as well as the face of ITB in its position internally and externally. The ambassadors are incumbent for a 1-year period. Before the evening peak election, ICA participants were put in mentoring quarantine, guided by internal ITB lecturers, alumni, and industry partners.

“ICA 2022 assessment was not only held during last night’s (18/6/2022) Public Evaluation, but also throughout the quarantine process, even participants’ interaction with each other was a matter to evaluate. The quarantine and assessment was held from Thursday (16th June 2022) until the Public Evaluation (18th June 2022), which was last evening. ICA 2022 finalists received a lot of materials, from knowledge surrounding ITB from the ITB Vice Rector for Academic and Students Affairs. There were also classes in modeling, acting, public speaking, as well as fashion and beauty from expert alumni, and materials from ITB Academic Senate,” explained Sonny during a media press conference, yesterday (18/6/2022) a moment before the Evening Peak of ICA Election 2022.

Meanwhile, the Director of ITB’s Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr. G. Prasetyo Adhitama S.Sn., M.Sn, revealed that ICA election is another part of creating an expansive learning space for students to build competence and character. The students who have participated will become communicators, as well as initiators in the effort of building an academic atmosphere based on ITB’s values.

“The ICA election was held in order to improve students’ role as ITB’s mission executor, that is generating exceptional human resources who will transform Indonesia, and the world, to a better place. There are several categories for the campus ambassador election, such as Digital Communication Ambassador, Sustainability Ambassador, Culture and Wellbeing Ambassador, and Entrepreneurship Ambassador.
