BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) organized "BUMN Goes to Campus" at the ITB West Hall on Thursday (21/09/23). This event aimed to provide students with insights into BUMN through talk shows, company booth exhibitions, and experience-sharing sessions.
The talk show featured speakers such as Norman Ginting, Director of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, and Vernon Sapalatua, Director of Marketing and Business Development of PT Rekadaya Elektrika/PLN Nusantara Power Group. The theme of the talk show was "Green Energy and Technology.
"The global shift towards renewable energy addresses previous challenges associated with nonrenewable energy sources. Green energy, being part of the renewable energy spectrum, is characterized by low carbon emissions.
Pertamina and PLN, as key players in Indonesia's energy landscape, are actively transitioning towards more sustainable energy practices. This transition is undertaken in stages, each with its own strategic approach.
Pertamina, which has managed six subholdings over the past 30 years, is positioning itself for the energy transition. Among its initiatives is the offer of biofuel as an alternative renewable fuel at hundreds of Green gas stations. The use of biofuels aims to achieve decarbonization through more efficient energy processing using the latest technology.
“We encourage NBS (Nature-Based Solution). We hope that our efforts will create better environmental conditions,” expressed Director of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, Norman Ginting.
Similarly, PLN, responsible for managing power plants, is transitioning towards low-emission plants. With several subholdings, including PLN Nusantara Power (PNP), PT PLN Indonesia Power (PIP), PT Energi Primer Indonesia, and PT Indonesia Comnets Plus, PLN focuses on implementing the energy trilemma concept—energy security, energy affordability, and environmental sustainability.
PLN is committed to achieving 75% of electricity generation from renewable energy in the short to medium term. As part of this commitment, PLN, in collaboration with the government, recently inaugurated the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Cirata, the largest renewable generation source in Indonesia and ASEAN.
"The key to practicing the green energy and technology transition is the aspect of strong collaboration. We must focus on a more adaptive and competitive energy transition with environmentally friendly values," emphasized Director of Marketing and Business Development of PT Rekadaya Elektrika/PLN Nusantara Power Group, Vernon Sapalatua.
Both speakers urged students, as future leaders, to actively engage in sustainability missions. Students were encouraged to cultivate a curious and open-minded character, emphasizing the importance of not only acquiring hard skills but also developing soft skills to build a well-rounded character.
