BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Erensa Ratu Chelsia becomes an outstanding student in the Undergraduate Program in Architecture at the School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development of Institut Teknologi Bandung (SAPPD ITB) in 2024.
Erensa mentioned that her interest in architecture sparked during childhood when she frequently saw houses in her neighborhood in Ciputra. Upon further exploration, she discovered that a related profession is property development, and one of the developers is Dr. (H. C.) Ir. Ciputra, an ITB Architecture program alumnus.
The selection of the outstanding student is based on the Achievement Index (GPA). Subsequently, they will shortlisted into 10 candidates followed by a final selection process. Eventually, Erensa, a member of the class of 2021 was chosen as an outstanding student from the Architecture study program.
Since the start of college, Erensa has intended to participate in numerous competitions because she’s fond of it. Apart from being in the architecture field, Erensa frequently collaborates with her twin who studies in the Undergraduate Program in Information Systems and Technology at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI). Generally, the competitions that they usually participate in are related to environmental issues.
“Being an outstanding student is not a goal but a bonus. Just do your best and always evaluate your efforts. If we are fortunate, then we will become outstanding students,” said Erensa.
Erensa mentioned that one of her most remarkable achievements was securing 3rd place in the Rafflesia Competition, which focused on global warming and heat islands. The competition’s objective is to design buildings that achieve thermal balance.
When participating in a competition, it is common to face various challenges. Behind her extraordinary achievements, there are several ways that she often applies. First, one must exert more effort, especially in competitions that evaluate the utility and essentials of a building. Some materials must also be studied independently due to the competition’s wide scope. Second, seeking guidance and engaging in discussions with relevant lecturers can help overcome confusion regarding the materials and competition.
“Another key is setting out our priorities. If you determine that the competition is your priority, allocate an appropriate amount of time to focus on it,” she said.
Currently, Erensa focuses on the Building Technology Research Group, particularly environmental technology. In the new curriculum, there are specialization transcripts that can be requested and used for future employment needs. More specifically, Erensa aims to construct settlements that are decent and comfortable to live in.
