BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—Three Chemical Engineering students at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) won the 2021 Green Scientific Competition, a national-level student scientific writing competition held by the State University of Semarang. They are Daud Aditya (Chemical Engineering, 2018), Bryan Prama Ardiansyah (Chemical Engineering, 2018), and Radi Ramadhan Seba (Chemical Engineering, 2018).

The three of them carried the idea of ??"Potential of EFB-Based TiO2/CNC Photocatalyst for Reduction of CO2 to Methane as an Implementation of Sustainable Chemical Processes in Indonesia". This idea won first place in the LKTIN GSC 2021 and won in the video category.

Prizes and achievements are recognized as the initial motivation for Daud, Bryan, and Radi to take part in this competition. Various challenges faced by this team, such as the lack of files that must be collected at the paper elimination stage. Daud, the team leader, admitted that he did not think about their team's possibility of achieving victory.

"It's thanks to God's help that we can win," said Daud.

This team designed a product that produces methane through various chemical reactions carried out. Methane can be used as fuel and other raw materials that are very useful in industrial activities.

The team went through various stages and challenges, from the paper elimination stage to the presentation stage. Coordinating online is also a challenge. However, the difficulty paid off with their success in winning the race.

The participants experienced mindset development when participating in the competition, and the experiences allowed them to explore their abilities and experiences.
