ITB and Transportation Policy Agency Signs a Cooperation in Strengthening Analysis and Provision of Recommendations

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—Institut Teknologi Bandung had signed an MoU document with the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT) of the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia concerning the analysis and provision of recommendations in transportation policies. It was signed by the Head of BKT Gede Pasek Suardika and the Vice Rector for Research and Innovation of ITB Prof. I Gede Wenten, M.Sc., Ph.D.

A cooperation agreement was also arranged between the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT) and the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Policy and Mode Integration regarding the type 2 self-management scheme on the air transportation development work package with a time span of 9 months. A similar cooperation agreement was planned between the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE) and the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Policy and Mode Integration on the criteria of optimizing air transportation networks within 9 months.

Prof. I Gede Wenten expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration. Stating that the partnership is a momentum for both parties to develop a transportation system in Indonesia that can improve the economy. He expected the cooperation agreement to produce analysis and recommendations from current policies for a more efficient land, air, and sea transportation system.

"We hope that human resource quality in this sector can be improved as well,” he added. “As a university, ITB has graduated great alumni who can greatly contribute to Indonesia. One of the major points in this collaboration is the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. We really hope that this collaboration can be put to good use by ITB and BKT."

The Head of the Transportation Policy Agency, Gede Pasek Suardika, expressed his appreciation on behalf of the agency, thanking ITB for committing and supporting the Ministry of Transportation to assist in the policies made by BKT.

ITB has a long history of working together with the Ministry of Transportation and will continue to do so for years to come. "This cooperation is a support that we need to formulate or respond to the dynamics of the ever-developing transportation issues in the community."

The collaboration will help increase human resources, data usage, infrastructure utilization, and support for the MBKM program. This emphasizes teamwork between academicians and the government.

The collaboration between ITB and BKT is carried out to enhance effectiveness and utilize the resources owned by both parties. By doing so, analysis can be done to come up with the best recommendation in the transportation sector so that the resulting formulation of policies can be better, complete with measurable outcomes that serve as the basis for these recommendations.
