ITB Held Ceremony for 69 Years of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - August 17th always becomes special moment for Indonesians. On this day, Indonesians commemorate Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. As of August 17th 2014, Indonesia has been unitary state for 69 years. For that moment, Bandung Institute of Technology held commemoration ceremony of independence of the Republic of Indonesia on Sasana Olahraga Ganesha (Saraga) field on Sunday (17/08/14) morning. This ceremony was attended by the entire academic community ITB, including rector, lecturers, and also representatives of ITB Students Cabinet. Same like previous years, all new students are obligated to attend this ceremony.
Theme of the ceremony in this year was "By spirit of the proclamation August 17th 1945, we support succession of National Leadership Election Result 2014 for Indonesia continued development towards increasingly advanced and prosperous". Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka as Rector of ITB became the inspector of this commemoration ceremony for 69 years of independence of the Republic of Indonesia. ITB student that is Edi Irtanto (Ocean Engineering 2012) acted as commander of this ceremony. Edi is member of ITB Student Regiment. Protocol of the ceremony was also conducted by ITB student, which is Reza Martha Fauzi (Management 2011).
Actually, all the entire officers of this ceremony were ITB students, including new students in batch 2014. Some new students acted as flag raisers team and several other students had been part of ITB Student Choir. Marching Band Waditra Ganesha (MBWG) also took part in this commemoration ceremony for 69 years of our independence.
In that occasion, Rector of ITB who also as the inspector of ceremony, Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka, gave awards named Satya Lancana Karya Satya 30, 20, and 10 years from the Republic of Indonesia and 35, 25 years of services to ITB. Around 200 ITB lecturers and staffs got that awards this year. These awards were given to civil servants who already have served over 10, 20, or 30 years continuously and also have showed proficiency, discipline, loyalty, and dedication so as to be role model for others.
Before closing the flag ceremony, Dr. Yedi Purwanto led recitation which followed by all participants of the ceremony. This commemoration ceremony for 69 years of independence brought hopes that Indonesia will be remained peaceful and continues the development led by selected government from election result 2014 for Indonesia's increasingly advanced and prosperous.
