BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Directorate of Student Affairs of Institut Teknologi Bandung, often shortened to Ditmawa ITB, held the 2023 Ditmawa Partners Celebration Night at ITB East Hall on Friday, December 8, 2023.
This event was organized to acknowledge ITB’s partners for their contribution, especially regarding graduate recruitment (career development), scholarship, and character development throughout 2023.
The Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., expressed his gratitude to ITB’s partners for their contribution in helping ITB produce quality graduates.
Prof. Jaka revealed that ITB had 5,000 activities after the COVID-19 pandemic until December 2023. On average, there were at least 14 student activities conducted daily at ITB.
“What’s more uplifting and touching was that two-thirds of these 5,000 activities were only possible because of ITB’s partners,” he stated.

In terms of scholarships, 7,000 out of 18,800 students received their scholarships from partners. Many of them were very grateful for the opportunity. In some entrepreneurial sectors, a number of scholarship grantees successfully built startups that had been incubated and developed.
ITB is committed to creating a healthy educational environment. In addition to conducting numerous activities for students to benefit from, ITB and its partners could also provide them with character development and psychological services.
Prof. Jaka said that student character should essentially be developed from the beginning of college so that students could avoid mental health issues. This would also prepare the students to face the dynamic and rapidly developing global world.
“In this digital era, we have to coexist with machines—controlling them, not being controlled—and share a mutual bond with them.”
ITB offers several psychological activities for students, such as the peer system, psychologists, and advisors. Through these activities, there was an increase in students’ awareness regarding the importance of psychological issues, issues that are not taboo to consult about.
Good character is a fundamental requirement for facing challenges. Only humans who have good character and principles can readily face the ever-evolving world without being controlled by technology. As such, this issue received full attention from ITB’s partners, with the hope that students could actively enjoy their lives at ITB.
Various kinds of research and innovations from ITB, which aimed to solve issues found in society, were also inseparable from the partners’ financial support.
“People who found our community service helpful are very grateful to us. We are here on their behalf to express gratitude to our partners,” he concluded.
