ITB’s Hybrid Learning Facility: CreateView Smart Classroom

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--Institut Teknologi Bandung inaugurated the hybrid learning facility named “CreateView Smart Classroom”. The room is located on the 4th floor of Engineering Lab Building VIII, School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB, Ganesha Campus.

The facility is a joint partnership program between Institut Teknologi Bandung and the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the UNESCO, sponsored by the Guangzhou CreateView Education Technology.

The Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., inaugurated the CreateView Smart Classroom on-site on Monday (3/10/2022). Accordingly, the facility will be used to support education 4.0, moving towards digital transformation. “A few other classrooms in ITB have also transformed into hybrids,” stated the Rector after.

CreatiView Smart Classroom incorporates 50 internet-connected computers and a huge widescreen in front of the class, linked to a camera. The facility had undergone through a testing and will hopefully supports hybrid learning in ITB.

“Through smart classroom supported hybrid learning, the knowledge transfer will improve significantly as there are real feedback facilitating interactions, and also accelerating the educational transformation into a digitalized path,”

The Rector revealed that hybrid learning have been applied in ITB in all three campuses, Ganesha, Jatinangor, and Cirebon. A preview of hybrid learning might consists of a professor teaching in the Ganesha Campus, while Jatinangor Campus students could follow the lecture through streaming.

Meanwhile, according to Mr. Hassan A Shehzad as the UNESCO representative, there are already 12 smart classrooms built in a few African and Asian countries by the organization. Hassan conveyed that the smart classroom constructions aim to develop innovation worldwide. “ITB is the first and only smart classroom in Indonesia,” he remarked.

Dr. techn. Saiful Akbar, ST,MT., as the Vice Dean of Academics STEI ITB added that the program’s initiation has continued for four years and was only recently realized. He wished this facility will aid many academic activities in ITB.
