BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Miss Indonesia pageant is a beauty contest that showcases inspirational women from various backgrounds. Winners of this contest engage in various social activities in areas needing assistance.

This year, Priyanka Puteri Ariffia, a student of the Biomanagement Program at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), achieved an impressive feat by being selected as the Runner Up 3 Miss Indonesia 2024.

As an active student, Priyanka excels in balancing her academic pursuits with her activities as Miss Indonesia. Despite her busy schedule, she continues to work on completing her thesis.

"Praise the Lord, amidst the busyness of Miss Indonesia, I no longer have regular coursework besides seminars and thesis defenses, allowing me to focus equally on both," she said.

Priyanka is determined to inspire and motivate Indonesian children about the importance of education. For her, education is not just about reading or arithmetic skills but understanding the processes involved. By instilling this understanding early on, children will grow with consistency to continue learning, think critically, and have a broad perspective in facing various life moments.

In addition to education, she also aims to raise awareness among young generations about the importance of cherishing Indonesian culture. This stems from her love for wayang stories, which teach exemplary behavior.

Priyanka emphasizes that Miss Indonesia should possess not only beauty but also sensitivity and social concern for others. Currently, she, along with ITB students, alumni, and students from other universities in Bandung, is building the "Bandung Milik Kita" (or, Bandung is Ours) community.

"The 'Bandung Milik Kita' community is a platform to gather the voices and aspirations of young people in Bandung to build a better city in the future," she said.
Through this community, she hopes more young people in Bandung will care about the city where they live and grow.

In every endeavor, Priyanka admits to always striving for the best. Moreover, as an ITB engineering student, she feels she has gained numerous lessons and habits that have honed her into a resilient, intelligent, and leadership-minded individual. It is this combination that led her to become the Runner Up 3 Miss Indonesia 2024.

Becoming Miss Indonesia opens new doors for her to spread even more positivity. Priyanka is highly motivated to advance Indonesia in the fields of education, cultural preservation, and empowering young women.
