BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Three students from the Geological Engineering Program at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) achieved a national-level accomplishment by securing Third Place in the Smart Competition PRIME 2026, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers Student Chapter, University of Brawijaya.

The team, JuniMajuKolo, consisting of Rexy Christian Leosaputra, Johanes Baptista Aditya, and Muhammad Fath Al Faiz, successfully competed against dozens of teams from universities across Indonesia and advanced to the final round held on Saturday (April 18, 2026).

This prestigious competition not only tested participants’ knowledge in the oil and gas industry but also emphasized conceptual understanding, analytical skills, and readiness to face challenges in the energy sector through a series of time-limited questions.

Throughout the competition, Team JuniMajuKolo passed two preliminary rounds conducted online. After reaching the top eight, they advanced to the semifinal and final rounds, which were held offline at the University of Brawijaya.

The team highlighted that thorough preparation was key to their success. They emphasized the importance of broadening knowledge through learning resources beyond formal coursework.

“Learning from various sources and expanding knowledge beyond classroom materials is essential, as it will be highly beneficial when entering the oil and gas industry as professionals,” said Johanes.

Beyond being a competition, the experience also provided valuable learning opportunities for the participants. This achievement is expected to inspire other ITB students to continue developing their potential, actively participate in competitions, and confidently pursue opportunities.

“We hope that everyone continues to have the courage to try and strive for their goals, stay confident, and remember that it is never too late,” he added.
