A total of 341 ITB students participated in the program and were deployed across the five hamlets. Working in collaboration with local communities, they carried out a number of initiatives that resulted in:

1. Clean water: Construction of one water weir, eight main reservoir tanks, and a clean water piping network;

2. Sanitation and worship facilities: Construction of eight communal sanitation units, ablution facilities, and renovation of a prayer room;

3. Energy and lighting: Installation of 76 solar-powered public street lighting units;

4. Education: Regular tutoring programs and improvements to supporting facilities at local schools and madrasahs.

These achievements reflect ITB’s commitment to applying science and technology to address real challenges faced by communities.

ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., said that KKN is more than an opportunity for students to bring programs into rural communities. During their three weeks living alongside local residents, students gained first-hand experience of the challenges faced in everyday life and learned how meaningful change must be built through collaboration.

The Rector emphasized that students learned that community challenges do not always have simple solutions. Knowledge acquired in the classroom must be translated into approaches that can be understood, applied, and utilized by the community.

“You came to Talagasari as ITB students bringing knowledge. Today, you return as students carrying experience, empathy, and humility, while preparing yourselves to become leaders who are not only accomplished for your own sake, but are also capable of contributing to society and the nation,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of ensuring that knowledge creates broad and lasting benefits for society.

“The success of a community service program is not measured solely by whether a project has been completed. True success is achieved when its benefits continue to be felt even after we have left,” he said.

Facilities Handed Over to the Community

At the closing ceremony of the 2026 ITB KKN on Monday (August 17, 2026), the Rector formally handed over the facilities and other outcomes developed by the students to the Talagasari Village Government so that they could continue to be used by the community.

The Rector encouraged the Talagasari Village Government and local residents to jointly maintain, care for, and make optimal use of the facilities that had been built so that they could continue to provide long-term benefits to residents across the five hamlets.

The implementation of the 2026 ITB KKN was also supported by the Talagasari Village Government, supervising lecturers, local communities, and a number of partner organizations, including Wakaf Salman, Masjid Nusantara, Rumah Wakaf, Rumah Zakat, Relawan Nusantara, and PT Jasa Raharja.

The 2026 ITB KKN demonstrates how university community service can serve as a bridge between knowledge developed on campus and the real needs of society. Collaboration among universities, government, communities, and various partners can create solutions that go beyond short-term programs and continue to be maintained and provide lasting benefits long after the program has concluded.
