BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPD) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) organized a socialization event for the Bachelor-Master Integration Program, also known as BMIP, on Friday, September 1, 2023. The socialization took place in the Studio Room on the 5th floor of Labtek IXB, ITB Ganesha Campus.
BMIP offers students the opportunity to complete both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees within five or five and a half years. The program is open to all students who meet the specified requirements and commences in the fifth semester, allowing bachelor’s students to concurrently enroll in several master’s courses.
Aswin Indraprastha, S.T., M.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at SAPPK, explained that BMIP is one of ITB's flagship programs designed to expedite the completion of master's degrees for undergraduate students.
One of the key advantages of BMIP is its time and cost efficiency. In the first year of BMIP, students are only required to pay bachelor’s tuition fees, while the master’s tuition fees remain the same as those for the bachelor’s program. Additionally, BMIP students may qualify for the Ganesha Talent Assistantship (GTA), providing further financial assistance.
Furthermore, BMIP encourages the integration of final projects and theses between bachelor’s and master’s studies. This enables students to explore the same research topics and collaborate with lecturers as assistants.
BMIP offers three schemes: linear, semilinear, and nonlinear. Students have the flexibility to choose the scheme that aligns best with their competencies and requirements. The program also extends the opportunity for ITB Cirebon Campus students to participate on a hybrid basis, with designated lecturers from the main campus visiting Cirebon once a month for lectures.
At the conclusion of the socialization event, participating students received detailed information on the requirements, learning schemes, and procedures of BMIP within each master’s study program at ITB SAPPD. Registration for BMIP remains open until mid-September.
BMIP represents an initiative to encourage timely graduation, enhance the selectivity of master’s studies, improve the quality of research and publications, and reduce academic fees. The program is anticipated to facilitate a smoother and quicker completion of both bachelor’s and master’s studies for students.
