In his opening remarks, Director of Research and Innovation ITB, Prof. Dr. Elfahmi, S.Si., M.Si., emphasized that research funding from the Asahi Glass Foundation is one of the most prestigious research schemes at ITB. This year, a total of 89 research proposals were submitted, but only 14 successfully received funding.
“I believe these 14 grant recipients represent excellent research quality. The funding from Asahi has significantly enhanced ITB’s research achievements, particularly in publications, and is expected to generate impactful outcomes that will benefit society,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Senior Executive Director of the Asahi Glass Foundation, Dr. Naoki Sugimoto, expressed his appreciation for the continuous progress of research at ITB. Since 1988, the foundation has supported more than 380 research topics in Indonesia. He noted that this program aligns with the mission of the Indonesian government in strengthening science, technology, and economic competitiveness.
“Looking at today’s seminar agenda, I was impressed by the diversity of topics ranging from material science, chemical engineering, biomaterials, to disaster mitigation. This demonstrates how deeply science is connected to life and society. We hope these research outcomes will bring benefits not only to Indonesia but also to the world, particularly in advancing technology, strengthening the economy, and protecting the environment,” said Dr. Sugimoto.
The event continued with a seminar presenting research findings from the 14 grant recipients, who came from various schools and faculties across ITB. Each researcher shared their latest results in strategic fields and also showcased their work through a poster exhibition.
