BANDUNG, itb.ac.idid--Rector of ITB signed an MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) related to education with Jeonbuk National University on Friday (10/6/2022). The purpose of this cooperation is to strengthen the partnership between universities in Indonesia and abroad, as well as to conduct student exchange between these universities.

The Vice Executive President of Jeonbuk National University, Dr. Cho Gihwan, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation enacted with ITB. He explained one scope of said cooperation was student exchange in the field of science and engineering, as well as other forms of collaboration academically.

According to him, ITB was one of the best institutes in Indonesia with regards to science and engineering. ITB itself was founded in 1920, while JBNU (Jeonbuk National University) in 1940.

The Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., also made her statement. She said that a sustainable collaboration had three important aspects: the conformity in vision and mission, funding, and good relationship (chemistry and friendship) between the two entities. “Hopefully, we will greatly benefit from this collaboration,” the Rector stated.

Moreover, the Rector also mentioned that ITB was currently undergoing a transformation in multiple sectors and would provide quality services that are still affordable. Prof. Reini later explained that one of the most recent programs ITB has offered was the admission of new students from 3T (underdeveloped, frontmost, and outermost) regions.

The aforementioned MoA was signed directly by the Rector of ITB Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D. and the Vice Executive President of Jeonbuk National University Dr. Cho Gihwan. The signing was done in ITB’s CCAR Office.

In addition to the collaboration mentioned previously, other scopes of this agreement include “degree program”, in which students enrolled can attend lectures in “home” and “host” universities and get a degree from both universities. To date, this cooperation has already commenced jointly at faculty level, namely with the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of ITB. Through this MoA, the scale of the cooperation will be expanded to institute level that involves other faculties and programs both in education and research.
