BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) officially launched the International Virtual Course (IVC) program in 2021. This program is an implementation of Merdeka Learning Merdeka Campus. Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., virtually inaugurated the International Virtual Courses program on Monday (26/7/2021).

As an effort to strengthen the reputation of World Class University, ITB has been holding a summer school program since 2017. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ITB changed the program to an International Virtual Course.

In her speech, the rector said that the IVC program was a solution offered by ITB to spread knowledge to the public, both internally and externally, especially during the pandemic. These activities will continue to be carried out in a quality manner with the support of the best academic staff and partners. "We have held the IVC-ITB program for two years in a row. Last year, we offered 13 courses and accepted applicants from nearly a thousand candidates. 40% of registrants are ITB students, 40% are foreign students, and the rest are students from all over Indonesia," said the rector.

Students from various regions in Indonesia also participate in this program in line with the Permata Sakti Student Exchange Program from the Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.

This year the IVC ITB program offers 42 lecture materials with more than 5,500 registered participants. Those who have registered include 1,700 ITB students, around 1,300 international students, more than 2,300 non-ITB students from all over Indonesia, and 300 others are professionals.

The rector hopes that participants who take part in IVC can benefit during the learning process.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Sub-Directorate of Continuing Education at the Directorate of Non-Regular Education, ITB, Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule explained, taking IVC courses is taken non-regularly. "So all participants, whether ITB students from various study programs, foreign students, Non-ITB students from other regions in Indonesia as well as professionals from within and outside the country must register to take this IVC course on the admission.itb.ac.id page," he said.

After that, he continued the selection process was carried out by the ITB admission team and the organizing team at an IVC. If their application is accepted, they will become ITB's non-regular students, have a NIM from ITB, and access the LMS Edunex system developed by ITB.

"For those who pass all processes of academic activities at an IVC, they will be given a transcript and certificate. For ITB students, the value from the IVC will appear in the student's SIX System, while for non-ITB students it can be used to transfer credit at the host university," Rachmat explained.
