BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) announced that the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) through the School of Business and Management (SBM) had been accredited by an international accreditation agency, specifically for business schools. The accreditation obtainment was announced through an official release in Tampa, Florida, United States, Tuesday (16/11/2021).

SBM ITB is one of the few schools, less than six per cent, of business schools that have successfully obtained accreditation from the AACSB.

ITB Rector Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., said that she is certainly grateful for this international recognition. "Per now, 34 (25%) study programs from 12 faculties/schools (F/S) have been internationally accredited, while 59 (43%) have received the superior predicate from BAN-PT. Alhamdulillah, today AACSB adds to the number of international accreditation ITB has obtained as an educational institution that organizes business education programs, especially in SBM."

"We will follow up on the direction of the AACSB reviewers by synergizing many competencies and scientific strengths. It is needed to answer the challenges of real problems in Indonesian society. Also, by encouraging the formation of several study programs at the multi-disciplinary master's level, SBM and other F/S will increase its relevance. TB academic community's synergy in various activities will be supported by an integrated campus management system that we are working on for the next few years. Insyaa Allah, God willing," said the Rector.

The AACSB executive vice president and global chief accreditation officer, Stephanie Bryant, said that AACCB applies high standards in providing accreditation for business schools. Only a few schools obtain it. A total of 890 institutions in 58 countries have received accreditation from the AACSB.

"The AACSB accredits business schools that have proven to be excellent in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning," said Bryant, Tuesday (11/16/2021).

In addition, accreditation is given to business schools that focus on realizing their mission, creating innovation, and impacting many parties. Only business schools with sufficient resources and committed to providing the best education for students can achieve accreditation from the AACSB. Bryant also congratulated SBM ITB, including the dean, lecturers, staff and students, for achieving this accreditation.

"SBM ITB's commitment to obtaining accreditation is a reflection of its dedication to having a good impact, not only for students, alumni and the business community but also for the industry," said Bryant.

Meanwhile, the Dean of SBM ITB Prof. Utomo Sarjono Putro said that this achievement is the hard work of dedicated lecturers, staff, school boards, industry partners, university partners, students, and alumni.
"We are proud, and it is an honour for SBM ITB to have received accreditation from AACSB. SBM ITB hopes to collaborate with other business schools in the world to innovate and create a positive impact for Indonesian and global society," he said.

Founded in 1916, AACSB is a global accrediting body for business schools. AACSB connects students, teachers and business people around the world. Until now, AACSB has been present in 100 countries.
