According to the QS-WUR by Subject 2025 rankings, Indonesian universities have made significant progress, with several academic disciplines successfully entering global rankings. This serves as an important indication that the quality of higher education in Indonesia is increasingly gaining international recognition.
This year, seven academic disciplines from Indonesia have been ranked in the Top 100 of the QS-WUR by Subject. Two of these achievements were secured by ITB, which are Engineering - Petroleum and Engineering - Mineral & Mining.
The performance of higher education institutions in the QS-WUR is expected to enhance national competitiveness through research contributions and downstream innovation for economic development. This remarkable achievement is also anticipated to elevate the reputation of universities, opening opportunities for academic collaborations with strategic partners, research institutions, and industries at the global level.
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., stated in his speech that this achievement represents an outstanding milestone for Indonesia’s top universities. It serves as proof that Indonesian higher education institutions are on par with universities worldwide.
"These rankings are not just about numbers or positions; they reflect the hard work and dedication of university leaders, faculty members, researchers, students, and academic staff who have built a high-quality, innovative, and globally competitive education and research ecosystem," he said.
He further emphasized that these rankings have a significant impact on a nation's progress. Universities recognized in global rankings serve as key indicators of human resource development. An excellent university will produce graduates who are competitive, innovative, and well-prepared to face global challenges.
"We extend our highest appreciation to the university leaders whose institutions have made it into the QS-WUR rankings. This is tangible proof that we can compete globally. May this achievement inspire us all to continuously improve the quality of education. Congratulations to today's award recipients. Let us use this as momentum to keep striving and excelling for the pride of our nation and the advancement of higher education in Indonesia," he remarked.
This recognition is a testament to ITB’s strong commitment to enhancing the quality of education and research. The achievement is expected to serve as motivation for ITB’s academic community to continue innovating and contributing to the advancement of science and technology.
