ITB Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IHI Corporation

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) established a memorandum of understanding with IHI Corporation in the field of student internship programs. Located in Rapim A Room, ITB Rectorate Building, Monday (9/3/2020), a memorandum of understanding was signed by Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., and IHI Corporation Managing Executive Officer Kouichi Murakami and witnessed by General Manager of IHI Corporation Jakarta Office Nobuo Uematsu.

IHI itself is a Japanese company that is engaged in heavy industry such as ship production, aero engines, turbochanger for cars, industrial machinery, boiler power plants, suspension bridges, transportation machines, and other facilities. The company’s headquarter is at Tokyo and has a branch company at Jakarta.

IHI Corporation General Manager of Jakarta Office Nobuo Uematsu said the internship program for students began from 2013. During these past seven years, around 20 students from ITB have participated. “They did internship program both at Tokyo and at several other production facilities in Japan. I am grateful to ITB’s lecturers and students who have worked hard in carrying out everything related to this program, so that the program runs well until now," Uematsu said.




Uematsu added, this student internship program is very important for IHI Corporation and also very good as a support for Indonesia's development especially in the field of energy. "Hopefully Indonesia will be more successful and ITB will be the best university in Indonesia and in the world," he hoped.

Responding to this memorandum of understanding, Rector of ITB, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah expressed great hopes that with this program, students can get experiences of industrial environment. This is in line with Kampus Merdeka Policy that had released by Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia.

“I express my gratitude because IHI Corporation chose ITB as a partner. Our students have been allowed to do internships in companies, and work directly in large-scale international industries," she said.

Prof. Reini also believes that many ITB students will get benefit from this program, especially for future engineers. She hoped that this cooperation make ITB and IHI relationship more closely intertwined, and make great benefits. "I am very pleased to say that ITB will support this program," she responded.
