BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-Three students from ITB- Shane Annabella Nusa Pratiwi (13021130; Chemical Engineering), Alexander Jason (13521100; Informatics Engineering), and Angela Livia Arumsari (13521094; Informatics Engineering)- earned second place as well as being nominated for having the best papers in the International Business Case Competition.

The International Business Case Competition is part of GBF (Ganesha Business Fest) which is organized by SBM (School of Business and Management) ITB. In collaboration with SeaBank as the event’s case contributor, GBF set this year’s theme as “Cut Through the Uncertainty: Strengthening SMEs as Drivers of Nation Economic Recovery Through Integration”.

This competition was joined by various universities outside Indonesia, such as Taylor University Japan, Taylor University Doha, Singapore Management University, and the University of Groningen.

There are two stages that the participating teams must face: the preliminary and final stages. During the preliminaries, all participants must submit their proposal stating their solution to the problem given by SeaBank, which is assisting small businesses in Indonesia in providing digital features and encouraging them to use Seabank as their financial support.

The ITB team Blitzies offered two solutions to the problem. First, they plan the development of a lending program and financial management tools to accommodate business proponents. They also strategize the sharing of their scheme with the public.

During the final stage on Saturday (20/5/2023), the selected teams presented their solutions to the judges in the form of a debate session.

As his first offline competition, Shane initially felt he was lacking compared to other participants, who seemed to be performing better. However, he eventually realized that what matters most is focusing on his own goal instead of comparing himself to others.

For Jason, this competition is the perfect outlet for him to train his English-speaking skills from his mentors and upperclassmen while managing his time for his semestral examinations. On the other hand, this competition is Livia’s first throughout her time at ITB.

“I have made a good decision by joining this contest,” Livia stated. “I decided to be brave and step out of my comfort zone. If I have never pulled myself together and tried to enroll myself in this, I will never know my full potential.”

The team advised other students not to be afraid to try new things and to give them throughout all events and competitions. With the motto “Ora et Labora” that was held onto by Jason, the team strives continuously and prays for the best of their abilities. “The most important part of every competition is meeting the right people who have the spirit to move forward together,” Shane added.
