ITB Students Participated in Asian Job Express, Tokyo

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Again, the students of ITB got a remarkable achievement in international competition. Wiliam Hartanto (Chemical Engineering 2010) and Devina Jonathan (Chemical Engineering 2011) won a business competition which was held by Asian Job Express 2013. The competition was held on December (17-21/12/13) and it took places in Indonesia and Tokyo. Asian Job Express was the annual competition held by some Japanese companies to count upon college students in the field the companies working on. Some of the companies are Idemitsu Kosan, Ryohin Keikaku (Muji), and Aeon. The participants came from Japan, China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The selection process was held in both Indonesia and Japan. In Indonesia, Wilian and Devina was challenged to create business report to answers the questions which was already prepared by the companies. They had to answer questions related to the recent condition in Indonesia. One of the questions was "What problems have Indonesia faced nowadays and what kinds of solution do you want to offer?"


There were four Indonesians who passed the selection process in the country. Wiliam got the first place and Devina got the fourth. Then, they flew to Japan to join the grand finale. In Japan, they did business trips in Tokyo for five days. The participants from every country were divided into groups. They had to solve the cases that Asian countries have been facing. "One of cases was the development of sustainable energy in Asia," Devina said. After that, the participated presented the solutions they offered in front of the leaders of twenty five companies.


Last year, a student of Petroleum Engineering 2009 also got an award from Idemitsu Kosan in this competition. These students, including Wiliam and Devina, are ITB's proud who made a remarkable impression of Indonesia in foreign countries. "Hopefully, ITB will always be able to be Indonesia's proud in any fields that people concern about," Devina ended.
