BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The students of the Physics Engineering and Engineering Management Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) team up and won 1st place in the Yokogawa Indonesia Student Paper Competition (YSPC) 2024 under the theme "Industry 4.0 and Digital Transformation to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)".
The team consisted of Rimba Harits Hartanto (Engineering Physics), Anarga Paritrana Widhi (Engineering Physics), and M. Faiz Fadhlurrahman (Engineering Management). They won the Well-Being category. They brought an innovative idea in the form of an integrated system for nursing robots and hospital data management, which aims to ease the workload of medical personnel, especially after the major impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We chose to create a nursing robot system because we feel that hospitals are a crucial industry, especially considering the situation during the pandemic. The heavy workload of nurses requires a system to help lighten their tasks," said Rimba. In addition to the technical aspects, the team also considered the economic side to ensure that the solution offered was feasible for hospitals.
The competition, which was attended by 131 teams from 30 universities throughout Indonesia, had three stages, starting from the abstract submission stage, full paper submission, and final presentation. "One of our main challenges was to match the time between academics and working on the paper, especially since we come from different departments," said Faiz. However, they managed to overcome this obstacle and advanced to the final thus making a pitching video and online presentation via Zoom.
The award for this victory was given at the National Academic Symposium event held at the Ballroom of the Ibis Styles Simatupang Hotel, South Jakarta, Friday (26/7/2024), in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Yokogawa Indonesia.
Participation in this competition not only added the team's technical experience in research and complex system development, but also trained their time management and public speaking skills.
"We feel that this competition hones many skills, from scientific research to writing papers that can be applied in real life," said Faiz.
With this achievement, the team from FTI ITB proved that technological innovation based on Industry 4.0 can have a positive impact, not only in the industrial sector but also on the health and welfare of the wider community.
