ITB Conducts Educational Cooperation with the State Intelligence Academy (STIN)

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—The Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., said that Bandung Institute of Technology was poised to conduct educational cooperation with the State Intelligence Academy (STIN). It was delivered during the visit from the Governor of the State Intelligence Academy (STIN) to ITB on Thursday (5/20/2021).

The visit was made by STIN Governor Laksda TNI Dr. Ivan Yulivan, The Deputy Governor of STIN Kombes Pol. Dr. Barito Mulyo, The Head of Quality Assurance Institute Chrisna Yudhawinata, M.Si., along with The Head of Graduate Program of Applied Medical Intelligence Satriani Aga Pasma, Ph.D. Meanwhile ITB was represented by The Secretary of Institute Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo, The Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M. Eng., as well as The Head of Partnership Bureau Prof. Dr. Taufiq Hidajat.

During the visit, the Governor of STIN conveyed that STIN was presently planning to develop the discipline of medical intelligence. STIN currently has 758 cadets in the undergraduate program and 60 cadets in the graduate program. Moreover, there will be about 300 cadets in the upcoming academic year. "It will be a great opportunity. Hence, ITB will be a benchmark for us to establish the main cooperation, especially on the medical intelligence vocational program," he said.

Responding to the cooperation proposal, Prof. Jaka said that STIN and ITB have established partnership beforehand, one of them was cooperated through the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI). The implementation of the cooperation included mentorship for STIN undergraduate students as well as the public lectures from ITB lecturers.

"ITB has a significant role and responsibility towards the establishment of other campuses, such as Itera. We'll also do our best to assist STIN. The public lecture model is ideal to present knowledge transfer. In addition, there is also a model of mentorship between ITB lecturers and STIN cadets," he said.

The Head of Bureau of Partnership of ITB, Prof. Dr. Taufiq Hidajat, conveyed that ITB had cooperation, particularly the MoU, with the State Intelligence Agency and the State Parole Agencies in advance. Therefore, cooperation with STIN can be done by creating a specific cooperation agreement.

Furthermore, the Deputy Governor of STIN said that the cooperation agreement with several faculties/schools, such as School of Life Science and Technology, School of Pharmacy, and School of Electrical Engineering and Information, has been made. The cooperation includes the utilization of laboratories in ITB and will be started along with the upcoming academic semester.

"In the future we’d like to build a cyber lab for four study programs (cyber intelligence, technology, economics, and biomedical programs). We require laboratory technicians as well as the assistance of ITB. We’d like to hear input regarding further technology development and practical guidance," he explained.
