BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) once again held ITB Talks, this time with the theme: Semester I Kick-Off  2024/2025 Welcoming Curriculum 2024 on Monday (19/8/2024) at the East Hall, ITB Ganesha Campus.

This edition of ITB Talks discussed several important topics, including the 2024 curriculum policy, the Undergraduate Program scheme, the Graduate Program scheme, and the role of academic advisors.

ITB Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah Ph.D., stated that the introduction of the 2024 curriculum is a significant milestone. "This new curriculum is part of a great responsibility entrusted to us to manage and advance ITB," she said.

The development of the curriculum has been a primary focus for ITB for several years. However, the Covid-19 pandemic had halted the process, delaying its implementation.

"In 2022, we resumed benchmarking, re-evaluating, and meticulously planning the curriculum," she explained."We believe that the 2024 curriculum has been designed with better and more relevant considerations to meet future needs," she continued.

She explained that the curriculum change was driven by the ever-changing dynamics of the times. The 2024 curriculum is strongly grounded in both science and social science. Additionally, ITB will focus more on learner-centered education, actively involving students in the learning process.

The 2024 curriculum will equip students with various skills needed to face the future, such as digital literacy, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. This multidisciplinary curriculum is expected to produce graduates who are better prepared to tackle global challenges.

Meanwhile, ITB Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., mentioned that the five-year journey in making these curriculum changes was not easy. These changes were made in response to the very dynamic development of situations and conditions.

"We have made every effort to ensure this process runs smoothly, and we can all benefit from the results," said Prof. Jaka.

He explained that the 2024 curriculum must be flexible and adaptive, capable of addressing the developments often described as VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity).

"Our focus is on how this flexible and adaptive curriculum can align with students' future needs, particularly in helping them achieve successful careers and realize their dreams. We believe that with this new curriculum, students will be better equipped to face future challenges," he concluded.
