ITB’s Alumni Email Domain, Path to Immense Communication Across Graduate

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Bandung Institute of Technology will launch new email domain at *.alumni.itb.ac.id. As it named, the domain is dedicated only for ITB alumni. The new service will settled Ganesha 10 reputation as pioneer among university which provides institutional email account for its stakeholder. Previously ITB gave the students an email domain at *.students.itb.ac.id. The services aim to build a borderless communication between ITB and the alumni. The service is a gateway for ITB to collect alumni aspiration, to socialize ITB program, and tracking alumni coordinate after their graduation. Arief Bachtiar, Person in charge, insisted that by the end of 2008, the service must have reached a thousand alumni. “The number will increase 5000 every year”, he added. Thus would be done through intense socialization, publication as well as providing offline and online email helpdesk. Technically, the new domain is uses Windows Live™ @edu, Microsoft free platform specially designed to meet institutional education. The email inbox capacity is about 5GB, so that alumni will have more space to keep bulky e-mail messages packed with pictures, video clips, and thesis papers. The email account is also provide an online storage called Windows Live@edu SkyDriveTM —a password protected 500 MB online storage space— to access their documents from any computer, or share documents with friends. The alumni email account also featuring with other facilities like MSN Messenger for online communication, Photo gallery as online photo album, Blog and Windows Live writer to write idea, news, diary, log, etc. Calendar to create an online schedule –can be shared- and Push Mail facility to receive email via mobile device. SPAM filtering and virus scanning, both are among the standard facility. The service will enable ITB to keep close to the alumni. Furthermore, for the sake of ITB service quality, alumni could easily give their aspiration as a feedback for ITB. “I hope through this facility, alumni can always updating their latest information from ITB”, Arief said.
