The Dean of the ITB School of Pharmacy, Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, M.Si., Ph.D., in his remarks emphasized the importance of this laboratory as a means for ITB to accelerate innovation in the pharmaceutical field.

"We are very pleased to be part of the inauguration of this sophisticated facility, which will pave the way for groundbreaking research and further collaboration in the future. We have many problems that must be solved together between our researchers, not only from the School of Pharmacy but also from Indonesia because we have explained that ITB is ready to become a center for pharmaceutical research in Indonesia," he said.

The Daewoong Foundation, represented by Chang Won Ji, Advisor to Daewoong Biologics Indonesia, expressed high appreciation for this collaboration. He emphasized that this collaboration will continue to be strengthened with the aim of producing innovations in the pharmaceutical field that are beneficial, not only in Indonesia, but also on the global stage.

"We promise to do our best to ensure that the ITB Research Institute becomes the best place in Indonesia and a world-class technology research center. We know exactly the great potential that Indonesia has, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, we strongly believe in this potential and strive to contribute to the development of the pharmaceutical and health industry in both countries through close cooperation in Indonesia," he said.

This laboratory is the result of a collaboration between ITB and the Daewoong Foundation which began in 2021. This facility offers a variety of advanced technologies specifically designed to support research in the pharmaceutical field. In the series of inaugurations held, participants were given the opportunity to take a lab tour, visiting various rooms and available facilities.

This joint laboratory provides a variety of very complete facilities, including a Dissolution Room, Analysis Room, Weighing Room, Stability Chamber Room, Tabletting Room, and Storage for Material Room. These facilities are designed to support various research and studies in the pharmaceutical field, ranging from drug stability testing to the process of weighing pharmaceutical materials.

One of the flagship machines in this laboratory is the bilayer and triple-layer tablet printing machine, which is the first machine in Indonesia in a pharmaceutical education institution. This machine allows researchers to develop tablet formulations with guaranteed quality and ready for production.

In addition, the availability of facilities such as the Dissolution Room which is able to measure the rate of drug dissolution in the body and the Stability Chamber Room which can test drug stability in various environmental conditions, further provides space for researchers to develop the research they are working on.

The collaboration between ITB and Daewoong has a positive impact on both parties. For Daewoong, this collaboration opens direct access to research results developed by ITB experts, lecturers, and students, which can help the company in developing new pharmaceutical products. On the other hand, ITB benefits from the opportunity to use advanced tools and research funding provided by the industry. This collaboration also opens opportunities for students and researchers to collaborate with the Daewoong team, enriching their experience in facing complex pharmaceutical research challenges.

With the presence of this Drug Delivery System Research Institute, ITB hopes to continue to support various research and innovations, as well as open up new opportunities for technology transfer, innovation, and the development of superior human resources in the pharmaceutical field to support government efforts in terms of independence in domestic drug production.
