BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – In the first graduation ceremony of Institut Teknologi Bandung Academic Year 2018/2019, Kalyana Anjani Samardhya is the youngest graduate at 18 year 11 month. Kalyana is an alumni of Management Study Program in School of Business and Management of ITB
Born in Jakarta on 28th October 1999, Kalyana entered ITB in 2015. She finished her study within 3 years, in accordance with the curriculum of Management Study Program. She said that she first entered elementary school at 4 and was able to follow the lesson during school. On senior high, she took acceleration program which further shorten her education years.
Even though she is young, she does not procrastinate or postpone her study and chose ITB to continue her study. For her, being the youngest among her friends was not easy, especially with ITB’s intense learning condition that causes many to feel shocked, including for Kalyana.
“I never went home above 6 p.m during junior and senior high years. When I entered university, I went home at 10. I even suffered from typhoid and had to be hospitalized and bed-rested for a month, but I beg the doctor to only have me a month at hospital and have the rest as outpatient so that I can take final exam,” said Kalyana who always looks spirited. Institut Teknologi Bandung only let students to have activity until 11 pm in the campus.
Her 3 years strive bears sweet fruit as she was declared a graduate and hold the title S.Mn inaugurated on 20th October. During her university years, adapting to environment is a challenge for her. She felt insecure when seeing her friends are older and smarter than her and she began to think that being too young is a weakness.
But gradually, she adapt and started thinking that age is not a hindrance to chase her dream. “Absorb all and filter what you need. If someone is giving you suggestion or opinion just take it first. Who knows it can be useful in the future. If not, then no problem. For students who are too young just like me, use your leap time to learn more and be better,” said Kalyana.
