Math Expo 2007: Seminar on "How Would Picasso Look at Math"

Bandung, itb.ac.id - Friday (23/11) noon, in the framework of Math Expo 2007, a seminar titled "How Would Picasso Look at Math" was held at Auditorium Campus Center ITB. The seminar presented Iwan Pranoto, math lecturer and Sujiwo Tedjo, artist; students from elementary and secondary schools, and unversity students attend the event that quite attractive. "Math is not only a process of finding evidence. A mathematician examines phenomena and formulate his findings," said Iwan who also explained about 13 Creative Thinking Tools, ie: observing, imaging, abstracting, pattern recognition and forming, analogizing, bodily kinesthetic thinking, empathyizing, dimensional thinking, modeling, playing, transforming, and synthesizing. He said that math and art is not two distinguished thing. "There is no other tools to design, except math. Math is the best design," claimed Sujiwo Tedjo, an artist who admit that only in math we recognize unlimited dimensions. The seminar ended by discussion session that added attraction to the seminar.
