JATINANGOR, itb.ac.id – OSKM ITB 2024 (Student Orientation of Institut Teknologi Bandung) was held to welcome new students through a variety of activities. The first day kicked off on Wednesday (4/9/2024) with an opening ceremony, a talk show with the CEO of NSEI and ITB lecturers, and mentoring sessions.
Mentoring was conducted in smaller groups, which were referred to as “families.” The hope was that new students would find a “new family” as they begin their journey in university life.
There were two mentoring sessions on the first day: general mentoring and religious mentoring. General mentoring was led by field committee members, who are ITB students. The mentors act as facilitators, sharing their experiences as well as a set of curated materials.
OSKM ITB 2024 consisted of approximately 243 “families,” each with around 20 members. During the mentoring, mentors shared insights on the essence, urgency, and true meaning of leadership training. The sessions allowed participants to exchange views on the topics presented.
In addition, there was religious mentoring. Here, new students were supported without any discrimination. The aim was to foster a harmonious community of students of different religions within ITB. The religious mentoring sessions were organized in collaboration with various student religious organizations at ITB.
“It was really exciting to meet new Muslim students from different regions in Indonesia. I hope the mentoring materials will be beneficial and help them survive at ITB,” said Shafira Azka, one of the religious mentors.
