Rector of ITB Addressed ITB’s Recent Progress on “Safari Ramadan”
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Rector of Institut Teknologi Bandung and other executive officers held the first ‘Safari Ramadan’ 1440 H at Aula Barat ITB, Bandung, on Wednesday (16/5/2019). The Safari Ramadan saw presentation about ITB’s recent progress and a gathering for iftar. The safari, which is held annually, invited lecturers and education staffs of ITB.
This year, the safari is conducted twice. The participants of the first safari were coming from Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FITB), Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD), Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD), Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL), Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM), and School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPK).
The second safari, which will be held on Wednesday (22/5/2019) will see participants from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), School of Business and Management (SBM), School of Pharmacy (SF), School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH), and School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI).
Board of officials who attended the first safari were Rector, Prof.Dr.Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA; Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof.Ir.Bermawi Priyatna Iskandar, M.Sc.,Ph.D.; Vice Rector of Finance, Planning and Development, Prof.Dr.Wawan Gunawan A. Kadir, MS; Vice Rector of Resources and Organization, Prof.Dr.Irawati, MS; Vice Rector of Research, Innovation, and Partnership, Prof.Dr.Ir.Bambang Riyanto Trilaksono; and Vice Rector of General Administration, Alumni, and Communication Dr.Miming Miharja, ST,M.Sc.Eng.
On that occasion, the presentation was addressed by Dr. Miming Miharja. The presentation is focused on ITB’s Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Research, and Excellence in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Concerning Excellence in Teaching, the presentation showed information about average study period, average GPA in 2018, and accreditation. In 2018, the average GPA is 3.28. Regarding accreditation, almost every study program in ITB gets ‘A’ accreditation from BAN-PT. According to data until April 2019, there are 43 ‘A’ accreditation and 6 ‘B’ accreditation received by undergraduate study programs in ITB; 48 ‘A’ accreditation and 4 ‘B’ accreditation received by master’s programs; and all 26 ‘A’ accreditation received by doctoral programs. “ITB also has professional programs with A accreditation,” said Miming Miharja.
Concerning Excellence in Research, ITB now has 12 Faculties/Schools, 110 Research Groups, 7 Research Centers, 22 Centers and 6 Centers of Excellence (PUI). Those PUIs are Center of Excellence on Broadband Wireless Access; Center of Excellence on Defence and Security Technology; Center of Excellence on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology; Center of Excellence on Sustainable Transportation Technology; Center of Excellence on Carbon Capture Storage and Carbon Capture, Utility and Storage; and Center of Excellence on Earthquake Disaster.
Regarding research, there are 2,124 Scopus and WoS publications in 2018 and additional 509 publication until April 2019. Meanwhile, the number of accredited and indexed journals issued by ITB in 2019 are as follows: 6 Scopus indexed journals, 1 compedex journal, 6 ESCI journals, 10 DOAJ journals and 11 Nationally Accredited journals.
Concerning Excellence in Innovation, data by LPIK-ITB states that there are 75 researches, 202 patent registered, and 33 patent granted during 2018. Meanwhile, there are 92 start-up business tenants of LPIK-ITB. The number rises from 77 in 2017.
