BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), through its Directorate of Science and Technology Areas (DKST), held the Soft Opening of ITB Innovation Park (IIP) Bandung Technopolis at Summarecon Bandung on Friday (6/12/2024).
IIP Bandung Technopolis is an innovation hub established to support research, development, and technology downstreaming activities.
The Director of Science and Technology Areas, Ir. R. Sugeng Joko Sarwono, M.T., Ph.D., emphasized that IIP Bandung Technopolis marks a significant step forward in integrating research and innovation activities across ITB’s multi-campus system.
“With the establishment of IIP, we aim to create an ecosystem that facilitates collaboration between academia and industry while fostering innovation,” he stated.
Meanwhile, ITB Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., highlighted that the development of IIP Bandung Technopolis was a formidable task, especially during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the project was successfully completed through collaboration and high optimism.
“IIP Bandung Technopolis stands as proof that ITB can overcome significant challenges and deliver tangible solutions. This project represents ITB’s commitment to maximizing the potential of innovation and technology,” she said.
She further underscored the importance of understanding downstreaming, which is at the core of IIP’s purpose. “The business of technology downstreaming is complex, but we have designed it optimally to ensure continuous growth in the future,” she added.
As an innovation hub, IIP Bandung Technopolis adopts the technopolis concept to promote the downstreaming of research outcomes and innovative technological products. It aims to create a conducive ecosystem for startups and strengthen industrial partnerships.
Covering nearly 40,000 square meters, the area is equipped with various facilities, including business incubators and accelerators to support startups and emerging companies in expanding their ventures. Additionally, it features laboratories and research spaces to foster research, community engagement, and development. Co-working spaces are also provided to encourage collaboration between academia, industry, and local government.
The ITB Innovation Park Bandung Technopolis focuses on the development of strategic technologies and industries such as information and communication technology (ICT), infrastructure and disaster management, food and health, artificial intelligence (AI), transportation, energy, and renewable energy.
This innovation hub is expected to become a central ecosystem connecting academia, industry, communities, and local government, producing impactful solutions for the wider society
