ITB's Active Role in AUN-QA International Conference 2024, Promoting AI Integration in Education

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), through its Quality Assurance Unit (SPM), participated in the ASEAN University Network on Higher Education for Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) International Conference 2024. The event was held on Wednesday-Thursday (November 11-12, 2024) at Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The conference, themed "Innovating ASEAN Higher Education: Embracing AI Integration, Database Utilization, and Future-Ready Quality Culture," highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) integration, database utilization, and a quality culture in improving higher education standards in the ASEAN region.
During the event, ITB's Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., served as a speaker in the sixth session on December 12, 2024. She presented ITB's strategies for ensuring a sustainable quality culture in higher education within ASEAN.
The Secretary of ITB's Quality Assurance Unit, Ir. Winny Wulandari, Ph.D., stated that one of the key points presented by ITB's Rector was the importance of attracting top talent to contribute to ITB and creating the best working environment for lecturers.
"This strategy is expected to contribute to ITB's excellence in education and research," said Winny Wulandari in a written statement.
Meanwhile, a professor from the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM), Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana, also served as a moderator in the fourth session on December 11, 2024. This session, titled "Crafting and Utilizing an Effective Database Ecosystem," focused on developing and utilizing an effective database ecosystem to support higher education quality in ASEAN.
The ITB delegation attending the conference included: chairman of ITB's Quality Assurance Unit, Prof. Ir. Dr.rer.nat. Poerbandono; secretary of ITB's Quality Assurance Unit, Ir. Winny Wulandari, Ph.D.; secretary of ITB's Quality Assurance Unit, Dr. Kiki Vierdayanti, S.Si., M.Sc.; secretary of ITB's Quality Assurance Unit, Dr.Eng. Yosi Agustina Hidayat, S.T., M.T.; lecturer from the Human and Knowledge Management Expertise Group, School of Business and Management (SBM) ITB, Achmad Ghazali, S.T, M.A.B, Ph.D.; lecturer from the Environmental Management Technology Expertise Group, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL) ITB, Ir. Arief Sudradjat, S.T., MIS., Ph.D.; and lastly, the lecturer from the Architectural Design Expertise Group, School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPK) ITB, Aswin Indraprastha, S.T., M.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. Their presence actively contributed to various parallel discussion sessions covering strategic topics such as AI integration, database management, and strategies to foster a future-ready quality culture.
The conference was also attended by Choltis Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network, and Tran Trong Dao, Ph.D., President of Ton Duc Thang University.
The presence of these key figures further reinforced AUN-QA's strategic role in promoting regional collaboration for the future of ASEAN higher education.
The conference featured seven main sessions providing broad insights for participants, including:

5. "Harboring an Environment of Excellence"
6. "Strategies for Future-Proofing Quality Culture in ASEAN Higher Education"
7. "Methods, Techniques, and Practices to Stay Ahead of the Curve."
As a core member of AUN-QA, ITB continues to strengthen its role within the ASEAN university network. Through active participation in this conference, ITB can expand its network with various universities in the region while reinforcing its commitment to quality assurance in education.
This forum is expected to further solidify ITB's role in higher education innovation, support data-driven strategy development, and enhance the competitiveness of higher education in ASEAN.
