Research Becomes Solution, ITB Still Competes in World University Ranking

While the faculty ranked by the year 2014/2015, ITB was ranked 258th in the field of Engineering and Technology and become ten of the best universities among Islamic countries. In the field of Social Sciences and Management ITB was ranked 364th. In the ranking of Asia, ITB was ranked 35th in the field of Engineering and Technology, ranked 44th in the field of Life Sciences and Medicine, and ranks 50th in the field Natural Sciences and Social Sciences and Management.
This achievement is the result of hard work from ITB academic community who consistently produces recent research studies. Through its research centers, ITB has conducted numerous innovative research, ranging from in the field of Renewable Energy, Information and Communication Technology, Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Creative Industry / Culture Product and Environment, to the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Until now, approximately 4300 research publication produced by ITB has been registered in Scopus. This number is the highest among universities and research institutions in Indonesia. In addition, many research studies that have been published by ITB through the Web of Science.
Not only in the research publication, ITB has also stepped into the next stage by changing the results of research into innovative solutions that are useful to society. This is the result of collaboration with industry and commercialization of the technology. As a result, various ideas and innovations have been born at the ITB and successfully applied or commercialized to bring change in Indonesia. Among them is the innovation in technology to improve the quality of coal, catalytic chemical reactor, enhanced oil recovery, WiMax, smartphone, ocean current power plants, membrane technology for water purification, water management, biomass and bioenergy, drone, vehicle remote operation, and so forth. This achievement is the effort of ITB to transform into the Entrepreneurial University.
