BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Student creativity can be expressed in many forms, as long as the aims are positive and the benefits for the society are apparent. This is what the students of the School of Business and Management at ITB sought to achieve by holding SBM ITB Golf Tournament 2011 at Riverside Golf Club, Cibubur, Jakarta Timur, on Thursday (6 January 2011).

Attended by 144 golfers who came from the likes of government offices, industries, academic institutions, as well as the parents of the SBM students themselves under the banner of IOM SBM ITB, the annual tournament was the sixth of its kind. This year, under the theme "Swing for Caring," the proceeds of the tournament were directed to the Satoe Indonesia social empowerment programs in the villages of Papakmanggu and Gambung, Ciwidey, Bandung Regency, West Java.

"I hope everyone here can give their support and contribution for this event as our collective donation for cultivating entrepeneurship and innovation among youth," told Hatta Rajasa, President of the ITB Alumni Association, to Kompas.com during the press release held at Jakarta on Thursday

Hatta explained how the golf tournament wasn't merely a matter of joy, but also a stage and opportunity for businessmen to participate directly in the development and empowerment of society through the Satoe Indonesia program. To reach that vision, the students at the Organizing Committee will give a chance to the businesssmen to donate a portion of their money to fund the program.

Hatta went on to explain how  Satoe Indonesia is a nonprofit organization of SBM ITB that engages in social activities, in particular local society empowerment. This organization is hoped to help form a rural society that is economically independent and practice-ready in the villages of Papakmanggu and Gambung, Ciwidey.

SBM ITB Golf Tournament 2011 "Swing for Caring" consists of 36 flights, each flight composed of four people. Individual tickets cost Rp 1.7 million, whereas flight tickets are Rp 6 million per flight. Besides a trophy and doorprizes, a BMW Serie 3 and VW Golf Tsi are also up for grabs as the hole in one prize.
