BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB), through its Circular Community Initiatives program, showcased the Teras Hijau Project at the Entrepreneur Expo 2025, held at Aula Timur ITB on September 17–18, 2025. The program is a concrete example of community empowerment in waste management, eco-friendly MSME development, and ecology-based education, aligned with ITB’s commitment to sustainable development.
The Teras Hijau Project focuses on the Waste for Impact Project concept, which encourages communities to reduce, reuse, and recycle household waste into useful and economically valuable products. One of its key initiatives is Pawon Sareng, a community-based food court offering a variety of dishes made from healthy, organic, and sustainable ingredients. What makes it unique is that all dishes are prepared by women from the Klamidisa Community, who have long been active participants in the project.
Its menu features a wide range of options, from Baso Tahu and Chicken Kebab to Dim Sum and special items such as Es Telang, a refreshing drink made from butterfly pea flowers. Pawon Sareng also provides catering services for events, offering diverse menu choices from traditional dishes to modern culinary innovations. This initiative emphasizes inclusivity while promoting healthier and more sustainable food options.

Beyond culinary products, the Teras Hijau Project also highlights eco-enzymes made from processed organic waste such as fruit peels, which are developed into natural soaps and cleaning solutions. These products are widely used by the local community and receive regular orders from partners, including PLN. “We utilize organic waste such as orange peels to produce eco-enzymes, which are then processed into environmentally friendly soap. These products are trusted because they are supported by research and guidance from ITB academics,” said Mrs. Dewi, a representative of the Klamidisa Community.
The project also extends its impact through Sekolah Alam Cakrawala, a nature-based learning center for children in the surrounding community. By instilling environmental awareness from an early age, the program aims to ensure that sustainability values are carried forward across generations.
Through the collaboration of SBM ITB, PLN Indonesia Power, and local communities, the Teras Hijau Project—together with Pawon Sareng and its innovations—demonstrates how small-scale initiatives can grow into community-based businesses that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable. Its presence at Entrepreneur Expo 2025 reaffirms ITB’s role in creating innovative solutions that positively impact society while fostering a sustainable business ecosystem.
