ITB Rector Opens IPMC 2025: Towards a Sustainable Metallurgical Industry

Rector of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., officially opened the International Process Metallurgy Conference (IPMC) 2025 on Tuesday (October 14, 2025). Under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Metallurgy Towards Circularity and Carbon Neutrality,” ITB hosted this international forum to bring together academics, researchers, industry players, and policymakers to discuss efficient and environmentally responsible mineral resource management.

The ITB Rector emphasized that the metallurgy sector is currently facing major challenges — from the increasing demand for critical metals to the global push toward low-carbon industries. With Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, he highlighted the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders to manage them using advanced technologies and sustainability principles.
