BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Himpunan Mahasiswa Perencanaan Wilayah dan Kota Pangripta Loka (HMP-PL) of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is hosting an exhibition titled “Connecting the Ideas” at the Galeri Campus Center Timur, ITB Ganesha Campus, from February 24 to 27, 2025. The exhibition showcases installation works created by HMP-PL ITB members, aiming to connect the public with urban elements, both tangible and intangible.
With the theme of connectivity, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the narrative of urban conditions, particularly those in Bandung. It begins with a "Wall of Reality," highlighting urban issues such as traffic congestion, slum areas, and the lack of adequate public spaces. The following installations present a vision of the ideal city, along with the steps required to achieve it, through the role of urban planners conducting on-site surveys.

In addition to experiencing the installations, visitors are encouraged to actively participate by sharing their thoughts on the ideal city. An interactive panel allows them to write or draw their aspirations related to urban development. These contributions will become part of the exhibit, creating a connection between the public and the urban themes explored.
Exhibition coordinator Aurelia Nadya (Urban and Regional Planning, 2022) explained that the exhibition is not only a space for appreciating art and ideas but also an educational medium designed to raise public awareness of urban issues.
“Through this exhibition, we hope that the public will not only be consumers of the city but will also actively contribute to making the city better,” said Aurelia.
She emphasized that urban planning is not solely the responsibility of experts but requires active involvement from the public as users of urban space.
Through these activities, the exhibition aims to deepen the public's understanding of urban issues and demonstrate how they can contribute to building a more sustainable and better city.
“Connecting the Ideas” combines elements of art, education, and public participation. This event is expected to inspire the public, especially the younger generation, to become more engaged and active in urban planning and development.
