BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Cities are composed of numerous interconnected elements, yet they often appear fragmented. The Urban Project Week: Connecting The Pieces exhibition, organized by the Pangripta Loka Urban and Regional Planning Student Association (HMP PL) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), served as a reflective space for Urban and Regional Planning students to explore urban dynamics and seek creative solutions for a more inclusive and sustainable city. This exhibition was held in two days, on Monday and Tuesday (February 24-25, 2025), at the Basement of the East Campus Center ITB.

By embracing the concept of Connecting The Pieces, this event sought to address major challenges in urban life by integrating various city elements—ranging from social issues and creative ideas to cross-individual collaboration. The aim was to transform cities into not only places of residence but also meaningful and comfortable spaces for their societiy.

Moreover, this theme emphasized the development of infrastructure that enables Urban and Regional Planning students to channel their creative ideas into tangible works. Through training, mentorship, and collaboration with various stakeholders, students were encouraged to translate their concepts into concrete and impactful actions. Beyond the academic sphere, they were also motivated to engage in community service initiatives, participating in social projects aimed at strengthening the connection between academic and the broader society.

The concept of meaningful connectivity, as promoted by the United Nations, also served as a key inspiration for this program. Five core elements were emphasized: the development of high-quality infrastructure, inclusive accessibility, information dissemination through various media, skill enhancement for sustainability, and the creation of safe and comfortable environments. These components were designed to establish connectivity that is not only temporary but also enduring and sustainable.

As part of this vision, The Planners magazine, which was also featured in the exhibition, served as a platform for Urban and Regional Planning students to share their ideas and perspectives. More than just a collection of articles, the magazine invited readers to envision the future of cities through its inspiring pages.

As stated by HMP Berakar Chairperson Raihan Wangsa Wijaya, "The Planners magazine, in particular, and HMP Berakar, in general, are expected to leave a lasting and enjoyable impression on their audience, or even provide an unforgettable benefit."

Through Connecting The Pieces, Urban and Regional Planning students were not only encouraged to think critically but also to take tangible actions in shaping better cities. By bridging issues, ideas, and individuals, they are expected to become agents of change, bringing positive impacts to their surroundings and the future of urban development.Reporter: Atika
