BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Dormitory of ITB Jatinangor has become an integral part of Joint Preparatory Stage for the Class of 2023 (JPS 2023) students on their maiden college journey. This dormitory, dedicated to first-year students at the ITB Jatinangor Campus, is more than just a residence; it's a place to strengthen the family spirit and develop the character of JPS 2023 students.
Situated within the 46-hectares-wide ITB Jatinangor Campus, the dormitory consists of five buildings, each being a five-story structure named TB 1 to TB 5. TB 1 and TB 2 are designated for female students, with a capacity of 2 people/room. TB 3, for females as well, accommodates 3 people/room. TB 4 has a capacity of 3 people/room, and TB 5 accommodates 4 people/room. The last two tower buildings are for male students.
With the concept of a "living and learning community," the Dormitory of ITB Jatinangor fosters an environment where learning extends beyond the classroom, integrating into the daily lives of its residents. The dormitory provides students with a golden opportunity to develop themselves, collaborate, and understand the true meaning of shared values.
Indri Yossiva (SITH-R 2023), one of the new students residing in the Dormitory of ITB Jatinangor, shared her experience. She initially chose the dormitory because she came from Padang, West Sumatra, and didn't have a place to live in Bandung. In addition to the affordable costs, living in the dormitory allowed her to better understand life in Bandung and meet friends from various regions.
“This helps me expand my circle of friends, especially because I'm still new to Bandung. I am also happy that the dorm has Dormitory Tutors who are always ready to help with the daily problems of residents like me. In addition, the shared facilities in the dormitory allow us to study together, collaborate, and interact with our dorm-mates. The intra-campus location is also very helpful, making it easier to mobilize to class for lectures," she shared on Saturday (09/09/2023).
The ITB Jatinangor Campus dormitory is actively involved in organizing various activities involving its residents. These activities aim to create a sense of belonging and familyhood among the dormitory residents. Additionally, they serve as a platform for sharing values that can help prepare first-year students to face future challenges.
Beyond being just a place to live, the Dormitory of ITB Jatinangor Campus plays a crucial role in forming character, encouraging personal growth, and fostering a sense of family among new students residing there. The spirit of community-based learning and character building carried by the Dormitory of ITB Jatinangor Campus makes the experience of living there one of the most memorable moments in an ITB student's journey.
