Establishing Renewable Energy Lab, ITB Signed MOU with Korea Midland Power

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung signed MOU with Korea Midland Power Company., Limited (KOMIPO). The MOU signing ceremony was held on Executive Meeting Room A at ITB Rectorate Building, Bandung on Tuesday (23/4/2019).
The MOU’s scope of cooperation are establishment of renewable energy laboratory which will be named as “ITB-KOMIPO LABORATORY”, provision of scholarship, recruitment and internship program, sharing of the renewable energy research, provision of academic exchange program, and provision of direct or indirect support by the parties in implementing the cooperative activities or projects.
President Director and CEO KOMIPO, Park Hyung Koo stated that the MOU is important for KOMIPO because it can strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea. Indonesia is an important country for KOMIPO because they have several ongoing projects in Indonesia.
“If ITB have renewable energy laboratory that we are going to build after this MOU, ITB alumni can acquire many benefits from the lab,” he said. He hopes the cooperation will contribute to development of technology of Indonesia and South Korea.
Vice Rector of Research, Innovation, and Partnership of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Riyanto Trilaksono warmly welcomes the cooperation. He said that ITB, which was established in 1920, today has 12 faculties/schools that engage in 4 clusters namely engineering, science, art, and management.
On that occasion, Prof. Bambang conveyed that this collaboration will contribute to development of technology in Indonesia, especially in electrical power. “I hope, through this MOU many contributions can be delivered by ITB and KOMIPO in the future,” he concluded.
Besides MOU signing, on the occasion KOMIPO also give symbolical scholarship award to ITB students in undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs as a part of the MOU.
