This was the second field trip held by SPE SC ITB in 2012. "Now the number of participants are larger," said Rezza (Petroleum Engineering 2009), Head of SPE SC ITB Field Trip Division. The group departed from ITB to Jakarta by bus at 03.00 AM. Arrived in Jakarta, the participants were welcomed with presentation about Total Energy's projects, human resource management, and internship opportunities in Total Energy.
Interviewed by Kantor Berita ITB, Rezza explained that the purpose of the field trip was to maintain a close relationship with companies related to petroleum engineering. Rezza hoped that next time they'd be able to visit a company's site so the activity could serve the name 'Field Trip'. Therefore he planned to visit Chevron Geothermal in Mount Salak, Bogor, for the next field trip.
A Brief Insight of SPE
SPE is an international organization related to petroleum engineering spreading all across the world. The SPE members aren't solely from petroleum engineering students, but also professionals and practitioners in the field. In every activity of SPE, such as internal meetings and seminars, all of the staffs and committees use English as the communication language.
Rezza said that students from all study program can join SPE SC ITB. He hoped that SPE could be recognized all over ITB through other activities. In 2013, SPE will hold Asia Pacific regional Indonesian Petroleum Week. The event would be consist of seminar, competition, and company days inviting various companies to do presentation in ITB.
