BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Liga Film Mahasiswa (LFM) ITB presented Finale: Liminal, an event that serves as a platform for exploration and appreciation of works by new LFM ITB members. Carrying the concept of “liminal,” the event not only showcases creative works but also represents an individual’s journey through a transitional phase toward self-understanding.

The name Liminal is derived from the concept of liminality, which refers to a state of being on the threshold or in a transitional space. Milzam, the Project Leader, explained that the term emphasizes an ongoing process rather than merely a point of transition.

“Liminal represents a phase in which individuals move from a monotonous and repetitive condition toward the formation of a new self,” he stated on Saturday (March 28, 2026).

This concept is further realized through three main stages: Numbness, Turbulence, and Resonance. These stages illustrate a gradual journey—from constant order, through a phase of contradictions, and ultimately toward harmony and self-acceptance.

As a space for expression, Finale: Liminal featured various forms of creative works, ranging from photography zine exhibitions and films by kine club filmmakers to screenings of student-produced short films. Beyond serving as an internal appreciation platform, the event was also open to the public.

“The goal is to provide a platform for new LFM ITB members to present their works to the public, while also addressing the limited exposure available for local creative works,” Milzam added on Saturday (March 28, 2026).

One of the main highlights of the event was its immersive exhibition concept, aligned with the theme of self-acceptance. Visitors were invited to explore spaces representing the three liminal phases.

In addition, film screenings held in an auditorium with a cinema-like atmosphere provided a deeper cinematic experience, despite all featured works being independently produced by students.

Through the organization of Finale: Liminal, LFM ITB hopes to expand its audience reach while increasing appreciation for Indonesian student creative works.

“It is our hope that Liminal can reach a wider audience and introduce them to local creative works. We also hope that LFM ITB will continue to grow as a creative platform that gains broader recognition,” he concluded on Saturday (March 28, 2026).
